WWE Comes to Capital One Arena

Growing up I was very interested in WWE and would attempt the moves, I saw my favorite wrestlers like the Undertaker and John Cena perform on tv, on my brothers. I know they say not to try these moves at home but hey I was a kid and couldn’t help it.

I stopped watching wrestling as I grew up but now since I have a son, I have picked it back up in hope that he will like it as much as I do. On September 11, 2021, WWE Supershow came to Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The date is an important one as we all know but what most people don’t know is that WWE held the first live sporting event after the horrible events of September 11, 2001.

I knew it would be a great event so of course I had to take my family. I bought the tickets and our parking months in advance. We arrived at the arena and waited in line until they opened the doors at 6pm. We bought our food, drinks and even a toy WWE championship belt for my son before taking our seats and waiting for the show to begin.

The show began at 7:30pm and didn’t disappoint. We got to see WWE superstars such as Shinsuke Nakamura, Big E, Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch, Fin Balor, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, and my personal favorite Drew McIntyre. It was a great show but the one thing that impressed me the most was how the WWE superstars interacted with the crowd after their matches. All the wrestlers took the time to give autographs and take pictures with the crowd before returning to the backstage area. One wrestler stood out to me and of course it was my personal favorite Drew McIntyre.

McIntyre’s music played for probably 10 minutes after his match as he took the time to take photos with everyone who wanted one. He also made sure he high fived everyone that was sitting near the front row before returning to the backstage area. Something that no other wrestler did. It’s incredible to see how much the WWE superstars appreciate their fans and the lengths they will go to show that appreciation. They are coming back to D.C. at the end of December, and I will definitely be in attendance.

Below is a slideshow of photos from our night at WWE Supershow. Enjoy.
